Identification
Female beige-brown with brown streaks. Male bright golden yellow, olive wings with yellow edges to feathers, faint olive streaks on nape, breast and belly, orange forehead.

Range and habitat
South America, patchily around Colombia, Venezuela and Guianas, then from west Brazil to Bolivia and central Argentina. Found in semi-open habitats, including agricultural fields.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : This species is very adaptable and is expanding it already very large range. Very popular as a cagebird in South America, much rarer elsewhere. Trade isn’t considered a threat.
