Identification
Black bill, black back and tail with blue feather-edges. Bright blue face with black cap and forehead. Blue breast and flanks, spotted black. Subspecies with white belly.

Range and habitat
Subspecies occurs in South America, from Guianas to Brazil (south to Mato Grosso). Found in semi-open habitats like forest edges, clearings, flooded forests and gardens.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a huge range and can be locally very common to abundant, taking advantage of deforestation as long as some trees remain. Caught for the trade.
