Identification
One of the smallest known mantella species, rarely exceeding 1.7 cm in length. Coloration is entirely golden orange-yellow to almost red. Black spot on tympanum and on nose. Entirely black iris. Skin looks slightly warty.

Range and habitat
The species is endemic to a small area of east-central Madagascar, south of Fierenana valley. Lives in gallery forests, near swamps, seasonally flooded forests, up to 1000 m.

IUCN RED LIST : CRITICALLY ENDANGERED
CITES : Appendix II
Status : This species has an extremely small range lying outside any protected areas. It is declining because of increasing habitat destruction.
