Identification
The species reached up to 9 cm in total length, females being bigger than males. Bigger head and more robust body than P. leucomystax. Coloration light brown with dark brown blotches. Narrow stripe breaking in spots behind eyes.

Range and habitat
The species is found in most of Southern China, north Vietnam and Cambodia, Laos, Hong Kong. Also recorded in north-east India but this is likely a cryptic species. Lives in a wide variety of secondary habitats, including man-made environments.

Status : The species could be a complex of many species. As a whole, it is common in the wild and has a very large range. It isn’t believed to be threatened.
