Notes : No subspecies known.

Identification
Cylindrical body, blue eyes. Bright blue cheek patch, top of head more violet. Flanks dull orange, brightening towards tail. Bright yellow tail fin with transparent margins.

Range and habitat
Indo-Pacific, from Bali and Philippines to Pitcairn islands, to Mariana Islands and Rowley Shoals. Found around rubble patches on talus and steep outer reef slopes.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a large range and lives in deep water areas making it far less likely to be threatened by habitat loss and collection for the trade at this time.
