Identification
The species grows to 59 cm in length but adults are generally smaller. Laterally compressed body, very long falcate dorsal and anal fin tips, long caudal fin tips. Relatively small mouth, dark edge of gill coverts. Body silvery. Black fin edges.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo Pacific area, from Red Sea and East Africa to Indonesia, South Japan and Northern Australia. Lives in inshore reefs, mostly in shallow lagoons, down to 59 m deep.

Status : The species has a large range and seems to be relatively common. It isn’t impacted by any threats at this time.
