Identification
Adults can reach a maximum length of 117 cm for a weight of 43.5 kg. Laterally compressed body with steep forehead and big eyes. Coloration silvery, with slight greenish-blue tinge and black dots. Dorsal, anal and caudal fins bright blue.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from Red Sea and East Africa to Hawaii and coasts of Mexico to Panama. Always associated with coral reefs, down to 190 meters deep.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a huge range and seems to remain safe globally. It is often captured for food but this practice does not seem to be a threat.
