Identification
Adults can reach 22 cm for a weight of 625 g. Fusiform body. Medium-sized eyes. Coloration silvery with visible vertical stripes near lateral line. Broad yellow band running from eye to tail. Round black blotch on gill coverts and shoulder.

Range and habitat
This species in the Indo-Pacific area, from the Persian Gulf and East Africa to Philippines, north to south Japan, south to Arafura Sea and north Australia. Lives in continental shelf, in inshore waters over soft bottom, to 50 meters deep.

Status : The species has a huge range and remains locally abundant. It isn’t primarily targeted by fisheries in most of its range.
