Identification
Adults can grow to a body length of 23 cm, tail length of 18 cm and weight up to 234 g. Bushy tail. Fur coloration is mostly dull olive-brown with bright chestnut belly, lower flanks and breast. Thin yellow and broad black bands on flanks.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in extreme south Thailand and mainland Malaysia. Species also found in South East Asia, on Sumatra, Borneo and Java. Lives in gardens, mangroves, secondary forests, plantations.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a large range and remains at least locally common. It can tolerate a certain degree of habitat modification. Not threatened.
