Identification
Adults can reach a body length up to 30 cm, usually less. Antennae and legs are very long. Carapace is reddish-brown to bluish on the abdomen. Whole body covered with white spots, white line on lower flanks. Red legs with white spots.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, this subspecies is found in the Indian Ocean and South China Sea. Lives in rocky and coral reefs, in shallow waters, occasionally down to 120 m.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species is targeted by fisheries throughout its range. Locally, the harvest is probably unsustainable but no monitoring is currently done.
