Identification
Adults can grow to 2.5 to 3 cm in shell width. Top of the shell and back limbs black, rest of limbs dull reddish-brown. Edges of shell and underside dull orange-red. Display claw very large, orange-red with clear tip and granulous aspect.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area and is found in coastal areas of south and east China, southern South Korea, south Japan and North Taiwan. Lives in brackish water areas, mudflats, mangroves and estuaries.

CITES : Not listed
Status : This species has a large range and occurs in protected mangrove and wetland areas. It will be safe as long as some of its habitat remains protected.
