Identification
Large crab species with a near round body being 10 cm in diameter. Front part of body shows a few large spines. Very long pink-red legs. Body coloration is usually uniform pinkish-red with bright red spines.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in the north-western Pacific Ocean, around north China, Korea, Russia and Japan. Lives around rocky bottoms and pits, from 200 to 2700 meters deep, in cold waters.

Status : The species is common within suitable habitat and has yet to be assessed. Catching this species and relatives is tightly controlled.
