Identification
The species can grow to almost 40 cm in diameter when tentacles are fully extended for a tube length of 40 cm. Two whorls of tentacles with variable coloration (from nearly white to almost black). Inside tentacles have different color.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Eastern Atlantic Ocean, from Brittany to western Mediterranean Sea and Adriatic Sea. Lives in shallow waters, on seabed in soft substrates, to 40 meters deep.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a wide range and is only sporadically caught for the trade. It isn’t believed to face any threats.
