Identification
Colonies can grow up to 40 cm in diameter. They look like encrusting laminae with small nodules towards the center. Corallites are immersed in the mantle and inclined towards colonies’ margins. Dark brown-green, cream or red coloration.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from Andaman islands to Indonesia, east to Fiji, north to Ryukyu islands. Small population near Tanzania. Lives in coral reefs, especially when substrate is steeply sloping, to 30 meters.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is very common and widespread. Like most corals, it is potentially affected by habitat destruction and climate change.
