Identification
Colonies are formed of thin laminae with a partly encrusting base. Surface is very granulous, corallites are spread apart and immersed, with prominent teeth giving the granulous texture of colony. Grey or brown, often with green mouths.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from Sri Lanka and Andaman islands to Indonesia, Ryukyu islands and New Caledonia. Lives in coral reefs, in clear water areas with vertical substrates, down to 40 m.

Status : The species is locally common and has a big range. Like most corals, it is potentially affected by habitat destruction and climate change.
