Notes : No subspecies known.

Identification
Colonies are usually massive or encrusting. Corallites are mostly single-centered with thick rounded walls. Wall coloration ranges from grey to brown or yellowish-brown. Corallites centers are green to creamy-green.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in the Indo-Pacific region, from East Africa to Madagascar, then from Sri Lanka to south Japan, Australia and Polynesia. Found around most shallow reef environments, to depths down to 30 meters.

Conservation
IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is declining because of coral reef destruction and climate change (water acidification and warming). It will soon need reassessment.
