Identification
Adults can reach length up to 2.50 m but are usually about 1.70 to 2 meters long. Long triangular head. Coloration is usually brown to grey-brown with darker brown blotches on flanks and back.

Range and habitat
This species is endemic to Madagascar and occurs in western and south-western parts of the island. Mostly found in dry habitats such as dry forests and savannas with thorny bushes.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix I
Status : This species is still relatively common within its range. No current threats are known. Hybridizes with A. madagascariensis in northern part of range.
