Identification
Adults can reach length up to 2.50 m but are usually about 1.70 to 2 meters long. Long triangular head. Coloration is usually brown to grey-brown with darker brown blotches on flanks and back.

Range and habitat
This subspecies is found in Australasia, from Moluccas to New Guinea. Other subspecies found on Admiralty Island and Bismarck Archipelago). Lives in wet lowland forests and swamps, seasonally flooded habitats.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is occasionally captured for the pet trade but the main problem is probably loss of habitat on the long term.
