Adults can grow to about 2 meters, rarely reaching up to 2.8 m. Slender-bodied python with large head. Head is black with white spots on lip scales. Rest of body is brown to yellow on sides with intense iridescence. White belly.
Range and habitat
The species can be found in most of New Guinea, Bismarck Archipelago, Northern Torres strait islands and Indonesian islands of Salawati and Biak. Lives in leaf litter of forests and woodlands.
